Dr. Maria Lourdes Torres-Garcia

Dr. Maria Lourdes Torres-Garcia is a graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) where she obtained her degree in Masters of Science in Orthodontics.

In 2006, Dr. Garcia earned her degree in Dental Medicine from UP, where she was a College Scholar. The same year, she placed 8th in the Philippine Dental Licensure Examination. In recognition of her scholastic achievements, Dr. Garcia received commendations from the UP President and Unilab Corporation. She was also a recipient of the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Graduate Scholarship for academic excellence.

In the dental community, Dr. Garcia had the distinct privilege of sharing her orthodontic knowledge and expertise as a speaker at the Philippine Dental Association Conventions.

Dr. Garcia's scientific research and clinical cases have been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO) and the Philippine Journal of Orthodontics (PJO). She is a Manuscript Reviewer for Evidence-based Orthodontics for international peer-reviewed journals, such as the AJO-DO and the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS) Trends in Orthodontics Journal. In 2020, she was accorded the International Publication Award by the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA).

Currently, Dr. Garcia is the youngest faculty member of the UP Graduate Program in Orthodontics, where she is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Instructor. She handles the course "Orthodontics in Young Children".

Dr. Malou and her husband, Jet, have a son, Joachim.
